Software - Computer drawing

January 11, 2009

I almost never use Photoshop. Actually I love using Corel Painter x for making drawings. I think it has a more advanced use for computer sketching.

Are there more people here using Corel Painter?

I find Alias Sketchbook more intuitive than Corel Painter.

There's some really powerful tools whithin it but I've never really been able to get into the flow with it. I too use Sketchbook on a daily basis. Bill Buxton designed it so that anyone from a rockstar designer to the janitor could ramp up on it it a minute. To this end it is a little lacking in the feature department but is killer from an intuitive and line quality standpoint.

I am gonna try Sketchbook soon and see its possibilities.

I also see many people present a lot of super nice computer renderings here. It looks like hand sketches are impopulair for presentation. However I love to make drawings by hand. Computer sketches or hand drawings and scanning, with a little editing. I believe that this way of presenting is many times even better than using computer renderings. What do you people think?
